Choosing a kitchen front can be a bit of a challenge due to the wide range of options, materials and finishes available on the market. If we decide to choose fronts, e.g. lacquered, laminate or veneer fronts, there are still a number of decisions to be made regarding, for example, what way of opening the cabinets will be the most comfortable for us – in a situation where the choice is on the handles, we have a choice. At least three main types: railings, knobs and slat kitchen cupboard handles. When choosing handles, it is worth considering the possibility of using smooth or more decorative fronts, e.g. with a decorative frame. These two variables largely determine the final appearance of our kitchen.

Railings are the most popular among furniture kitchen cupboard handles; convenient and functional solution, they come in many variants of finish (e.g. brushed steel, precious metals, e.g. brass or painted metals). They are very visible and give character to furniture, so they should perfectly match the interior. They will work in single-color, simple kitchens.

Railings

They can be mounted vertically or horizontally, depending on the location of the cabinets and our preferences. Horizontal rails on the lower fronts or drawers can additionally function as hangers for kitchen towels.

Kitchen knobs

Knobs are associated with traditional classic interiors. But you can choose solutions that are also suitable for a more modern style. They are convenient to use. But may cause some problems when placed on the built in dishwasher or refrigerator. These devices, due to internal seals, can offer some resistance when opening. Knobs occupy a smaller area than for example rails. And can be used with only one hand (opening will require a little more force).

Edge holders

Edge holders are as visible as knobs or rails. Metal slats are attached parallel to the edges of the fronts. They work well in modern interiors, because they do not disturb the minimalistic character of kitchen furniture.

This is the best solution for kitchens where we do not install Tip-On handles, but we do not want to interfere with the simple shape of the fronts. Strips are convenient to use, and additionally protect the edges of the fronts against damage; they can cover the entire or only part of the edges of cabinets and drawers.

Kitchen fronts – what to choose

The second of the often emerging dilemmas related to kitchen design is which fronts to choose – smooth or with a frame? As in any case, it all depends on our preferences and the end result we want.

Smooth fronts

Smooth fronts usually look a bit more modern. They fit into interiors decorated, for example, in a minimalist style. The fronts devoid of decorations and kitchen cupboard handles are the simplest possible form of finishing the furniture.

Fronts with a frame

Fronts with a frame are more decorative and refer to the classic style – they emphasize the elegant character of the interior. However, we will not make them out of laminate, which can only cover flat surfaces
